Embracing Micromobility Workshop
The popularity of micromobility devices – including e-bikes and e-scooters – has increased transportation choice and flexibility for many. This explosive growth also has raised concerns about user safety and community impacts.
On August 20th, Ride Illinois recently hosted a one-day professional training session the CBBEL office in Chicago that concentrated on micromobility in Illinois. Nearly 35 engaged and enthusiastic attendees discussed new state legislation that goes into effect on January 1, 2027. Thoughtful presentations and discussion touched on local policies and ordinances, plus how practitioners in the industries of transportation planning, design, and engineering can embrace micromobility in their daily work.
Lunch was provided by CBBEL and an informal happy hour capped the enlightening day.
The workshop was eligible for PDH credits for engineers and CM credits for planners. Thanks to all who attended!
